Point DataBase

Overview

In order to index and control the points from multi - scan surveys a "Point DataBase" is often used. A point database unifies all of the scan data into a large binary file and indexes it to allow specific volumes of points to be extracted from the database and inserted into the modelling Environment. The more sophisticated the methods of selecting points then the more efficient the modelling process becomes. The less time that is spent refining and trimming out selected point data the better. to that end Exon Tech have invested in creating their own point database that has a very flexible point selection process. The Database can also be rotated for the modelling phase and the the model "un rotated" afterwards. this allows the point cloud to have all its main components running orthagonally, increasing efficiency during modelling.

Exon Tech Point Database

The Exon Tech Point database is continually being honed to get the best results and highest efficiency for modelling. the point gathering methods include; Centerline, where a pipe centerline is clicked, its diameter is detected and points are imported down its length . This feature can be used on steel sections and piping. Fence; this imports points to fill a polygon of any shape drawn by the operator, Quick view: and Ortho Select.. The database can be loaded from any Ascii File, these can be exported from any of the scanner suppliers registration software. this make the database Indipendant and able to take data from any source.
